Both the Volkswagen ID. Buzz and their new Amarok have achieved the top mark of five starts in the latest Euro NCAP safety tests.

In recent years, the NCAP tests have changed so that in order to achieve a high mark, cars must be fitted as standard with various safety systems.

Both performance in a collision and occupant protection are tested and the Buzz is fitted as standard with front seat, centre and side airbags in the cockpit with additional curtain airbags also part of the offering. As a consequence, the new MPV scored 92% for occupant protection.

The new Amarok, which is considered a commercial vehicle, also picked up the full five stars, although it’s a car we won’t see here until next year.

The tests also resulted in top scores for accident avoidance, thanks to the assistance and emergency braking systems fitted with the Buzz awarded 90% and the Amarok 84%.
