It’s no shock in the current climate, but ESB ecars have announced increased pricing for their public charging network. The new pricing will become effective from December 20th.
The increases are being blamed on wholesale energy costs across Europe and while ecars say they have absorbed as many increases as possible, they must now pass the charges on to their customers.
PAYG accounts will see prices rise to €0.563 for low power (< 22kW) charging, with 50kW charging now costing €0.647. High powered charging will cost €0.682 per kWh. PAYG customers pay no monthly fee.
More regular users can choose to pay a monthly fee of €4.79 and avail of reduced per kW prices, ranging from €0.509 to €0.617.
By my reckoning, that’s more expensive than my own diesel car, which will do 6l/100km all day long.
Better charge at home.
