Kia’s Niro has been named Women’s World Car of the Year, with the announcement made on International Women’s Day.
The voting was carried out by 63 women motoring journalists from 43 countries, including Ireland’s Geraldine Herbert.
In the first round of voting, a shortlist of the best cars in each category were chosen from 59 newly launched cars and these went on to a second round of voting before the winner emerged.
Kia’s second generation Niro has already taken a Golden Steering Wheel award in the Compact SUV category and has garnered other international awards also.
The Women’s World Car of the Year Awards were established in 2009.
