Nissan could fairly be said to have invented the family crossover when they introduced their Qashqai in 2007, creating a market segment that is hugely popular today. Equally, the Leaf was one of the real pioneers of the electric car.

This Saturday, Clare motorists will have the opportunity of a sneak peak of the newest Nissan, which combines both EV and Crossover in one new vehicle.

The Ariya is available to order now, with first deliveries due later this year. It comes with a choice of two battery sizes, 63kWh or 87kWh, which boast a claimed range of 402 or 519km respectively.

Two trim options are also available with the smaller battery coming as an Advance from €49,480 while the larger-batteried car comes in Evolve trim, priced from €66,995, both inclusive of Government grants. Later in the year, an e-4ORCE four wheel drive option will launch early next year.

Standard across the range is a host of tech including Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a wireless phone charger.

Nissan’s Safety Shield system is also standard, which includes a 360 degree camera, forward collision warning, driver tiredness alert, intelligent cruise control with lane intervention, emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, rear emergency braking and cross traffic alert.

ProPilot, Nissan’s self driving tech, is also standard. This includes e-Pedal, allowing single pedal driving while Pro-Pilot itself offers self-driving assistance.

Inside, switches are replaced by flush areas of the dash which light up once the car is switched on and vibrate when touched to give feedback.

The top Ariya also comes with synthetic suede seats, a head up display, ProPilot Park, cooled and heated seats, heated rear seats, power memory mirrors, powered memory seats, DAB radio with a Bose 10 speaker setup and a panoramic sunroof which can be opened.

The new Nissan Ariya is the EV that everyone is talking about and we are delighted to get our hands on it for one day,” said Trisha Rynne, at Dulick Motors in Ennis.

This car sets a new standard for electric driving and this is a fantastic opportunity to see it first. No appointment is necessary, just drop by our showrooms any time on Saturday, June 11th,” she added.
